CONSOCIATIO INTERNATIONALIS STUDIO
IURIS CANONICI PROMOVENDO
CANON LAW AND
LEGAL CULTURE
AT THE CENTENARY
OF THE 1917 CODEX IURIS CANONICI
Rome, October 4-7, 2017
-
or
Introduction
The
One Hundredth Anniversary of the promulgation of the first Code of
Canon Law (1917) represents a worthy occasion for reflecting on both
the intrinsic need for ecclesial law and the historical significance
of its positive expressions. At a time of disorientation and
difficulty, such as the one in which we find ourselves today, where
the Church is called to carry out her mission in situations quite
different from those of the past, this is an opportunity to go beyond
a simple commemoration and consider the promptings that history
provides for confronting the challenges of our time. We must think out
an ecclesial law for the future, capable of impacting on a globalized
and multicultural world.
The Consociatio, in cooperation with the Roman Faculties of Canon Law,
invites all scholars, professionals and specialists from across the
world to take part in this Congress, so as to launch a shared
reflection and develop a constructive and fruitful dialogue.
